Rent a Rake · Red Deer, Alberta
Care for the place
you call home.
A new path in 2006. A business built around yard work. A little help caring for the place that matters to you.

Our story · Since 2006
A fresh start.
A chance to build
something of his own.
Rent a Rake began in 2006, at a time of change for its owner. He had children around that time and was working in a job that left him unhappy.
He decided to leave that job and take a chance on a business of his own. It was a new direction, with a young family and a new venture becoming part of the same chapter of his life.
That choice became Rent a Rake. The business started with a person willing to make a change and put his effort into something of his own.
Today, that story is part of who we are. We help people care for the space around their homes, from the grass they walk on to the yard work they have been meaning to get to.
We have been doing yard work since 2006. Our story continues in the work we offer and in each new plan a homeowner brings to us.
Why the work matters
More room to enjoy
the place you call home.
A yard can be a place to play, a quiet spot after work or the first thing you see when you come home. It can also be a list that keeps getting longer.
We want to help make that list easier to manage. Sometimes that means keeping the grass neat. Sometimes it means laying a new lawn or clearing a stump so the space can be used again.
You may have a clear picture of the yard you want. You may only know that one part needs help. Both are good places to begin. There is no need for a grand plan before you get in touch.
For us, the purpose is simple: help you care for your yard and make room for the way you want to use it.
A little help outside
From the everyday
to a fresh start.
Our lawn care includes mowing and edging, as well as fertilizing, weed control, aeration or power raking. You can ask for the work you need.
If you are ready for a new lawn, our sod installation brings the ground prep, grass, supplies and installation together. Underground sprinklers can be part of the plan when you want a built-in way to water it.
Stump grinding helps deal with old wood that stands in the way. Spring and fall cleanups help with leaves, branches, lawn raking and hauling the agreed debris away.
These are different kinds of work, but they start with the same thing: what your yard needs and what you want from it. The quote sets out the work chosen for your property.
A clear conversation
Your yard.
Your priorities.
A plan you understand.
You do not need to know the trade terms. Tell us what you see, what you want and what has become hard to keep up with.
Perhaps time is the issue. Perhaps you have tried to fix a patch of grass and do not know what to try next. Or perhaps you have just moved in and want to make the yard feel like your own. Tell us what matters most.
A useful plan should be easy to follow. Before a job is agreed, the work, price and timing need to be clear. You should also know what needs care afterward, such as watering a new lawn.
Our guides are here to help you understand those steps. Read what you need, bring your questions and start with the details you have. We can discuss the parts that still need to be worked out.
